My name is Robert Tarrell and I teach drawing and painting. My life’s purpose is to be an art educator and artist. It makes me very happy to inspire my students to love learning. I enjoy painting outdoors or plein air painting. Every person carries in their heart an image of their homeland. For me, it is the Driftless landscape of southwestern Wisconsin. I’m drawn to the Wisconsin landscape because of its rivers, lakes, woods, rock outcroppings, and fields.

I received the 1999 James Underkofler Excellence in Teaching Award. I was the 2003 Wisconsin Art Educator of the Year. On November 5th, 2012, I was the recipient of the Mazzuchelli Medallion at the 23rd Heritage Celebration, Edgewood College. This is one of Edgewood’s highest honors and is given for cultivating personal, professional, intellectual and spiritual resources to empower others and for a commitment to Teaching and Preaching through the Arts.
